Pan Pacific Park, Los Angeles

// April 26th, 2010 // 1 Comment » // I Love LA.

Today I shot some hoops at the Los Angeles Pan Pacific Park’s basketball courts.  I was the only girl shooting hoops, trying to beat Stan at Around the World.  He whooped me, but whatever.  I shot this video last weekend with my friend Brandon’s kids.

I conned my friend Rose into an “All You Can Drink” Boba and smoothie outing.

Venice Canals

// April 11th, 2010 // 1 Comment » // I Love LA.

I like Ashton Kutcher and in Valentine’s Day his character lives in a home overlooking the Venice Canals.  Today I took a leisurely stroll through the Los Angeles district of Venice, namely the canals, randomly toured some multi-million dollar homes having Sunday open houses, and saw lots of ducks and a security patrol on a bicycle who kept yelling to his co-worker as he pointed at an unusual looking duck “Look, it’s Wilbur!”

Unfortunately the ducks became camera-shy and vanished once Stan began shooting this video, much to my chagrin since I look like a tool saying “Show the ducks!” when there are none within sight.  Either that or they were mad that I thought Wilbur was one of them, when in fact he was a Western Grebe (a swan), according to Stan.

The Belly Room at the Comedy Store

// April 8th, 2010 // 39 Comments » // LA Done Me Wrong

“I’m morbidly obese!”  The very slightly pudgy comedian onstage said.  I was at The Comedy Store last night with Stan and my brother Richard in the Belly Room awaiting our friend Brandon Phillips’ standup.  “If you don’t believe me,”  The dude onstage continued, “go look at the other gays on Santa Monica Boulevard.”

Me on my bathroom floor

Me on my bathroom floor

Driving through West Hollywood, seeing all the giant billboards with super hot, glistening men with perfect abs, and women wearing tiny bits of fabric masquerading as clothing makes me think that yes, I would like to reduce my 25″ tummy size which I just measured to be sure.  Why do I want such an absurdly tiny tummy?  Maybe because I live in Los Angeles where many people are obsessed with being physically perfect.  If I was still in Florida walking through Wal-Mart, moving aside to let the size 14 women in the aisles pass I might not care as much.  Recently, when a boyfriend told me I had a flabby tummy I went into the bathroom and cried.  “You think I’m not perfect!” was my inner diatribe.  Obviously I know I’m not perfect but I’d like the person I’m dating to think I am.  That would be nice.  Or maybe cracking on myself onstage in front of 90 strangers at the Comedy Store on Sunset would be the way to go.  It would be me, Bel, making fun of my belly in the Belly room.

World Pillow Fight Day, Los Angeles

// April 4th, 2010 // 5 Comments » // I Love LA.

This was yesterday in Los Angeles’ Pershing Square downtown.  It was clearly an amazing day.  Hilarity ensued with all the pillows being wacked to and fro.  My mascara was running, I was laughing so hard.   That and the feathers everywhere.
