Bel, what inspired you to do video blogs?
 
Friends in the film industry encouraged me to edit video to put together film reels of my work. So I took to learning Final Cut Pro and things evolved from there. I love the creative process.  I actually started doing photography after researching headshot photographers and thinking “I can do that!” Photography, however, was NOT easy to learn and took a lot of reading, shooting friends for free and playing around in Photoshop.

Is it true, Bel, that you have a bunny rabbit?

Very true.  His name is Nakamura.  I adopted him from the rabbit shelter here in Los Angeles on 4th street.

Bel, what inspired you to write?

David Sedaris.  He’s hilarious and I’ve read all his autobiographical essay books.  To me he captures succinctly the obsurdity and fleeting beauty of life.  If my book turns out to be anything like his I’ll be so grateful.  So grateful I’d be willing to kiss him on the lips.  If he wasn’t gay and I wasn’t in love with someone else.

Bel, what is your book about?

My book is a collection of  true, funny stories taken from my childhood.  I grew up with a ton of brothers and sisters with parents who didn’t believe in using protection.  That is, until the 9th kid.  Then they started to believe in protection.
